Washing New Substrate.

I blew another £150 today getting things together to start my tank off.

I bought RO water and the tank is full at the moment - will be adding salt soon.

How do I wash off the crushed coral substrate I bought today - do I use a hosepipe and water from the tap ?

It just seems strange that if I'm using RO water for the tank, will tap water rinsing my substrate put it all to cock ?

As long as you drain the water you use to rinse it you should be fine. The few drops of tap that will be left on the crushed coral will pale in comparison to the gallons of RO

Agreed with Ski. But, just something else to add, make sure you do an extra thorough job. You dont want to add your RO water after you half cleaned your sand, and have it full with particles. Wash it till the water in the bucket is clear!
