Was my betta angry or was only playing by himself

2day when i was cleaning the dead plant leaves which were floating on the top i left my aquarium top which is a mirror type think near my aquarium i saw that my betta was looking at him self in the mirror and he opened his fins and rest i think he was angry but i am not sure or was he only playing with himself??? Can someone tell me?

But he looked beautiful when his fins where open . I would have taken pic of him but my big bro wasn’t around as I use his cam to take pic

If a betta saw another betta it would get really mad.. so since it saw itself it assumed it was another betta and wants to attack it. Don't worry about it.. it makes your fish more active lol

It was just flaring. They do it to protect territory and to show off. Just as long as they can't continuously see other males or their reflection, they're fine.

Of course, a mirror is a good way to get bettas to flare if you want to take pictures...

He's just flaring, a perfectly normal and healthy thing for him to do. Fish can't distinguish between a real fish and their reflection, so when he saw his reflection he thought it was another male, and that's what they do when they see another Betta
