Was I seeing things?

Well, yes and no.

While looking for food, corys will sometimes pick up something like that by accident, but they usually spit it back out.

Contrary to what some people think, corys do not normally eat feces, either their own or any one else's.

No fish will eat poop, unless you coated it with bloodworm juice and gave it to them ( ) Some fish will look like they are going to eat it, but if they have any sanity or taste buds, they will spit it out :)

Its just it didn't spit it out it was taking its time munching on it.

Hi Lynz781 :)

In that case, yes, you probably were seeing things. ;)

Do cories even have solid wastes? I never see any in my aquarium and I have 14 of them.

Hi Teelie :)

Yes, they do. But they do not come out as strings like a lot of other fish make. They are more like little black turds.

If you ever see small dark pellets floating in the water, that's probably what they are. They must break up fairly quickly though, because they never seem to add up on the bottom, and I would see them now that I have sand in many of my tanks.

I'm not so sure. I've never seen my cories eat any poo but a couple days ago I put bloodworm in the tank for the first time and my fish went MAD :hyper: After the swordies and platies pooped and I watched my albino cory find the poop and eat it  He didn't spit it back out he actually ate it

I guess it must of tasted like bloodworm or something

Thankyou! Now someone believes me!! I reckon sometimes their poop comes out the same way it went in.

I was actually making a joke because their waste is so small and dissolves so quickly. I have 14 of them in my 30g and there is occasionally black specks in the sand but you wouldn't know it was fish poo.
