Was I Right In Doing This? What Now?!?!?

I just found one of my spotted bush fish very lethargic and hiding in corner with a mass of green weed hanging out of its mouth, it barely struggled and i managed to gently get hold of the fish and pulled the weed out, only there was even more down the fishes throat, i managed to pull most of it out but there's still a few strands in there i cant, when i tried pulling them out they tugged quite a bit like they were wrapped round something. The fish is around 2 inches so i had to use tweezers.
I dont understand how it went for the weed, i feed them every other day with a bunch of bloodworms
