Right now I have a 55gal mbuna tank. I'm wanting to give away my cichlids - to friends or even the LFS if nobody will take them - and switch over to a saltwater system, and am looking around for the best conversion options that will fit my budget. I am okay financially - but like most people I don't want to go spending thousands.

So, I have a 55gal tank, a fluval 304 filter, overhead day and night lights, a UGF powerhead, and a large heater. I'm also running two 20in bubble strips in there.

Now, what do I need to keep for a marine conversion, what do I need to buy.

I'm not yet looking at stocking options - although I'm aware that for a marine tank at 55gallons my options are pretty limited. I haven't decided whether I'm going to attempt reefing it either. Right now I'm simply looking at the basics to switching to saltwater.

It'd also be helpful if I could get a price estimate if any of you are that into helping me in this endeavor :)

Thanks in advance.

Have a good read up and buy a really good book, probably take you a while to get your head round everything but its much better to read read and read to get a good basic knowledge and then ask questions.

Price wise not cheap im afraid probably looking at $1000 atleast
