hello all,

I'm wanting to get a new fish to replace one of my bettas that died :( . It was suggested that I can get an Angel fish (I like the black ones) and be able to keep it in an unfiltered tank. This would be for my desk at work. Any comments, suggestions, warnings

I would not keep any fish in an unfiltered tank. angels need good water quality to stay healthy. I have a tank at work. a 3 gallon eclipse with flouresent light, 35gph power filter and a biowheel. it houses 1 betta. in the wild fish live with good flowing water so no filtration will equal stagnant water and create an unhealthy environment for the fish.

Tanked said everything there and must have filtration like he sed. ;)

hi welcoem to the forum fish girl. sory to hear about your beta there arent many fish that will go well in an unfiltered tank betas are one of the few as they apparently breath from the surfase using some biological trick that other fish cant do and they dont produce much waste. also i think they are not too concerned about tempriture. for thease reasons i would sugest another beta or a different tank. one that would fit on ure desk at work may become a little cramped for an angel as they can grow quite big and are not limited by the size of the tank. one sugestion might be to get a small filter and heater combined for near 10-15 dolars and keep dwarf puffers in there or neons well for the size of the tank there are allot of fish you coul dkeep in there if you had some live plants. best of luck and i hope you enjoy the forum :)

hi fishgirl :hi: as you can see lots of help right away. I can't believe tanked has posted almost 1000 times in under 20 days. crazy. :fun:
