hey guys my tank has been runningn ok since i got it roughly 8 months ago! I would really like to take out my live sand and replace it with maybe crushed coral! Is this possible at all??
Also i would like to upgrade my skimmer, i currently have the biostar flotor and would like a one with more cleaning power! Any ideas???
My tank is the aquamedic chromis, using all the original set-up equipment!

cheers

Oh it's possible - but a pain  Plus why not just put a layer on top of it??? The sand that you have - it's got good stuff in it - or at least I think so.

:good:

Orite Scotty how you keeping ?

If you are looking to upgrade from the Biostar, I would suggest the MCE 600 Deltec, would fit on a chromis no probs & is a lot more powerful than the Aquamedic one

Good to see you on - you aint about near enough these days :hyper:

cheers m8 i have been really busy lately and aint had much time for anything :(
But now im back ready to rock again!!
so yer i reckon i will look into getting the deltec skimmer and also getting my sand changed/covered over!

Anotha little problem that i have is my fish always just stay behind my rock and never come out so my tank is permanently bare!! Any ideas why??

Speak to ya soon m8 :good:

Which fish you mean

You got a backing on the tank

Is there any action going on just outside the tank that could be spooking your livestock

Have they always been like this

:good:

wel all i have in the tank now is my maroon clown and 2 humbugs and all they do is just swim behind the rocks and stay there untill i feed them then they disappear again!
I dont think anything can be spooking them really all that happens is we walk past it thats bout it lol!

I recomend the MCE 600, its a brilliant little skimmer!

I would not remove the sand as it has lots of good bacteria and lifeform in it that will most certainly have an impact on the tank should it be removed.
As suggested I would place a small layer of sand over this if you feel a different sand is needed.

I dont see lighting as a problem and these fish are usually bolder than most others so they are usually on display in most peoples tanks. Is the TV or is there loud music nearby? constant banging of doors etc? Or maybe even a stray electricl current interfering with the system? All of these can effect your fishes behaviour.

well where the tank is placed there is always somebody walking past it guarenteed!
Tv is at the other side of the room so that cant be a problem i dont think!
i will definately look into getting the mce 600 skimmer!

Also if iw as to get any more fish what type would you recommend to go alongside what i allready have?
cheers
