I was in Wayside Aquatics in Doddinghurst today, (Between Brentwood and Chelmsford) they had some UK Tank Bred Endlers, all the fish in this shop look in tip top condition, and the owner is willing to spend time selecting the particular individuals you want from those in the tank.

Not a huge range of fish, but those they did have all looked excellent.

I am looking for african dwarf frogs as I want to keep them with fish. I am also looking for rainbow shrimp

I have purchased my endlers from fintasia in braintree, not to sure on them think they scammed me charged me for 4 fish, I wasn't taking much notice acclimatised them and released them into my tank and can only see 3. I didn't check the bag before leaving the shop, nor pay particular attention when acclimatising, its been a couple of days now and I am fairly sure there are only 3! Not sure what to do about it as its my word against theirs.

Glad you have found your endlers, when they are breeding maybe we could arrange a swap for some of our fry, have always fancied some but not got around to it yet.

I thought it was only me that happened to I had the ame thing happen to me with some Otto's I do not believe the shop scammed be just that they made a mistake, they have a very good rep and my wife used to go there 20 years ago for tropicals.

see thread:

Apart from their in ability to count how did you find the shop, haven't been up that way for fish yet. Were they good on price, quality, variety, non fish items etc?

They had a good marine stock and their small tropical fish were very varied, the shop was packed with as many aquariums/equiptment to be sold and stock tanks as they could physically fit in there without the fish getting over crowded. Fish quality appeared good with vibrant colours, plant quality left a bit to be desired but the owner told me they hadn't had a shipment for a long time so mainly the runts from the previous shimpments are left, I will probably be going back again in the future. Had a gorgeous volitans lionfish that I was tempted to get at any cost as I do love them . The shop was family run and there seemed to be a small community of regulars who sat at the counter discussing aquarium techniques and trading stories, so if they have regulars I doubt they were being malicious just a simple mistake.

I currently have 4 males but after a couple of months and I am sure the tank is fully stabilised, I will get 4-5 females and then hope the baby boom happens and would be happy to trade as I have nowhere to put the fry except use them as feed for my pond fish or sell them back to the store.

edit: I just fed them lunch and found the fourth one, turns out he is just amazing at hiding as I haven't seen him again. Must be extremely timid aswell, doesn't shoal with the other 3 and is a lot darker but still has vibrant colours. He has dissapeared again which is quite amazing as the tank is gravel with 2 plastic plants and heater, filter and only 5gallons can't see him at all!
