could I have your opinion on the equipment I am using please... just want to know about your experiences or what you think at first sight...
Starting off with the heaters...
95ltr tank - Elite 150watt heater. IMO quite good and hasnt let me down in any way so far- maintains very constant water temp
48 ltr tank - Elite 50watt heater. Got it because of the success of the 150watt - also maintains constant water temp
Filters
95ltrs - Filter1 - (closest to tank wall) Elite jet-flo 100 (480l/h) never had any probs with it - impeller could be a better design so it doesnt clog up as easily but working well for me. Don't like the gfact that the filter media that comes with it has a big hole shaped into it - solved by filling with ceramic rings and foam
Filter2- Interpet PF1 (380l/h) had a quite large problem with my first (now on 2nd) where the winding inside the coil snapped and the fuse went. didnt notice for a while then total panic... got sent a new one and arrived next day... good sized media space for your own choice - comes with a floss pad in the box... only ever had one problem with it... impeller rarely clogs up and when it does it isnt by much due to good design
48ltrs - Filter1 - (closes to tank wall) Fluval Mini - bugs me a lot but since i sorted a manufacturing problem out in it (piece of plastic hanging down and obstructing the flow through the outlet) it has not given me too much grief since - decent size media space for whatever you like... could do with an impeller that is easier to remove and that doesnt clog up quite as heavily
Filter2 - Tetra IN300 - I love this filter personally - everything about it works perfectly and the impeller hasn't EVER clogged (yes - i have checked it on several occasions but no slime buildup) horizontally mounted impeller with good width - good flow control. just dont like the tiny media bay...
Aerators -tank 1 - interpet ap3 - good flow rate but quite noisy
Tank 2 - Interpet AV Mini - OK flow rate but not enough to provide cooling and as a result aerator becomes very warm, very quiet
