46 gallons is a good starting size.
Depends what you plan on keeping, fish only, fish only with live rock, or corals (in the future)
That should be enough.

When you say soon, don't rush things, you really need to do your research before buying anything especially livestock. Read the pinned topics on these forums to start with, then you'll have a better idea of where you want to get to.

Agreed, you can definitely do a fish only for that much, maybe even a basic reef . Gotta agree with Reynot1, have a read through the pinned topics to get some ideas of where to start and what to do so that your tank is successful longterm
