Woah woah, hermit crabs at Walmart??? This can't be good....
Did they at least have a sponge in there? That's the best way to water a hermit crab... a wet sponge. The land-dwelling ones can drown, so a sponge is much safer than a water bowl. They can survive a long time without food and don't eat much so that's not really an issue. Since they're only in the store temporarily, it's actually better that they not be provided with food as it would probably just sour. They DO need some kind of water source though, and should be misted with water daily.

at Meijer(michigan version of walmart) they have Hermit crabs but they have a tank for them adn stuff like that...so atleast theres osmething good here

Never seen HC at Wal-mart, but they are all over the place at my mall. =3 There are like...4 shops with them and a pagoda too. Smells very...fishy some times if they don't change the sand... Poor things die alot too because small children harass them and pull off legs.

Definately say someting to a manager there though. That's considered cruelty, with no food or water.
