Well, I went into walmart yesterday to buy those packets of bulbs, the ones in my local wally world have 2 bulbs each packet, and usually at least one grows into a lily plant. Anyways, got there, of course I had to look at their fishies, and man were all their waters dirty. I fould a cute little girly who I couldn't tell if she was VT or CT/VT mix due to some fin damage on her anal fin, and a blue/green male with damaged ventrals who looked half dead and his water was filthy... so, I put the two next to eachother and the male sparked to life, flaring and shimmering at her. :D So I decided to buy both and some bulbs and went to checkout. I was trying to find my credit card as the cashier scanned them, and looked up only to see her placing them in a plastic bag... Yet before I could say anything she grabbed the plastic bag and jerked on it to get it un-attached from the rest of the bags. both cups got knocked over as she did so, and I was like "Careful!" and reached out and picked the cups up out of the bag... thank goodness the lids were on tight and they only lost a little water through the breathing holes. I looked up and the lady had a little smile on her face, probably at my look of horror that she would do that, but when I glanced up and glared she quickly shifted from that little smirk to a worried look... I wanted to smack her. Grr. I mean, hello? These are living creatures... Pff. If she had been wearing a name badge i might have reported her, but she wasn't, and at that point I just wanted to get my babies home safely asap. :grr:

So my little girl is a sort of greenish blue with translucent red that you only see when she turns... and, when the light hits just right, her scales look white ... I think I'm gonna call her Shimmer, and the boy... idk I'm thinking Shamrock, since he's a green/blue color, and he was lucky that his lid was on tight.

Right on!

Rescuing any animal is always a joy. Congrats on the new fish!

Good for you, whenever I go into wal*mart I feel pretty confident that I wont feel bad for any of the bettas because oddly they are usually taken care of well, The reason being there is an older lady that works back there with the fishies and I can tell she loves the fish because when ever I go in there she's always working on cleaning out the tanks and little bowls they keep the bettas in. They are all in pretty good shape usually.

Damn, if i ever had a Wal*Mart near me i'd end up bankrupt. All my money would go to rescuing the little guys and gals!

Good on you for the rescue and log their progress!!
