Wall Aquarium Stocking Ideas?

Hi guys
 
I recently got given a wall aquarium as an early christmas present I am quite excited as it looks really awesome and can't wait to get it up and running. I will take some gravel, water, plants and filter media from my current 4 foot tank to put into the wall aquarium to help it cycle quicker.
 
My question is....what sort of fish, and how many, should I put in there?  It is extremely narrow, so I know I can't have any long fish. It's dimensions:  112cm long x 33cm high x 10cm deep.  It has a capacity of just over 30 litres. 
 
I currently have a four foot tank with platies, mollies, danios, sparkling gourami, neon tetra, serpa tetra and rummynose tetra.  I'm thinking I could possibly move the neons and sparkling gourami to the wall aquarium?  But I always like the thought if buying new fish
 
Any suggestions?  The aquarium came with a background which is a picture of rocks and plants so I'm thinking that bright red, blue or yellow fish would look the best. I've tried to research some fish which could fit, and are available locally.
 
Maculata Rasbora (i love their red colour)
Harlequin rasbora
Lemon Tetra
Black neon tetra
Cardinal tetra
Ember Tetra
Indian Glass Fish (Parambassis ranga) - love the look of them, but think they might be too big to turn around comfortably. 
Red Cherry Shrimp
 
 
I'm thinking maybe two schools of a tetra/rasbora type fish and the cherry shrimp?  How does that sound? How many of each could I fit?

Not the easiest tanks to stock, both being small but also in having a small surface area for the volume. It's fairly easy to get good flow across the tank, but it can be a struggle to hide kit in them.
 
Personally, given the 10cm dimension for swimming room you're really only looking at things up to 2cm in length, and I'd be inclined to reserve them for cherry shrimps, which will give the movement probably far better than most other things you might consider stocking as a good sized group of shrimp moving will outmatch the small numbers of fish you could manage.

I think that two schools of fish would be too ambitious for a 30 litre tank.  It's only 8 US gallons and while I know a lot of people don't like the inch per gallon rule, that's 8 inches of fish which is just one school of small fish.
 
From your list I think the dwarf rasbora or ember tetras are the best choices among the fish, along with cherry shrimp.  A group of male endlers might be a good alternative.  I wouldn't consider the other listed tetras or rasboras for such a narrow tank.

Personally, would not stock endlers in that, too narrow and they are very active little fish.
 
I'd go for some of the smaller rasboras, perhaps a microrasbora of sorts.
 
Its the narrowness of that tank thats severely limits your stocking choices
 
Other than that, think a shrimp tank set up would be good.

Thanks for all the replies. Once I set the tank up and have it mounted I will take a couple of pics.

There's not a lot of choice in fish out here, I live in a rural area. The ember tetra or maculata rasbora are the only fish small enough. Maybe neon tetra.

I like the maculata rasbora but if I get cherry shrimp that would be a lot of red so I'm leaning towards the ember tetra with cherry shrimp.

Would love any other suggestions

how do you go about doing water changes and substrate cleaning on this aquarium?  Does it have a heater?

Yes it has a heater and filter. It has a gravel vac to clean the substrate. It hangs on the wall, not in the wall, so water changes are just a matter of lifting the light off and using the gravel vac.

It looks very stylish.  I count at least 20 fish in there - I hope that your filter is able to cope with all this - personally I would have stocked it more slowly and kept fish numbers low to begin with.

I used filter media from my other tank and have been changing water regularly. I think it should be fine
