Addicted and in Therapy
Ok if this doesn't seem like a big deal to you, either bear with me with a smile and nod, or just don't bother reading. Anyways this afternoon I opened the hood on my 10 to feed, and my Dwarf Gourami, "Humperdink", was waiting at the top, like usual. However... he decided to make things UNusual, and SPIT AT ME! I was SO EXCITED! I've read that in the wild, gouramis (like bettas) will shoot water out of their mouths to catch food like flies, etc. Guess he decided to revert back to his wild streak!! I couldn't stand it, I wasn't even sure if I saw it right... but there was water dripping down the outside of the glass, so I didn't think I was imagining things. Of course I immediately started screeching for my mother, and he was kind enough to oblige and repeat himself - 3 MORE TIMES! All I had to do was stick my finger above the water and he'd squint, aim, and fire! Never missed. This is the neatest thing I've ever had any of my fish do. I think I'll put my psychology class to work and start conditioning him to do that in order to get a treat. Worked today! As soon as he did it the 4th time I dropped in a pinch of bloodworms. Happy Gourami!! Just had to share with y'all... I'm so happy.
