Ok I have a 10g fry/shrimp tank and I'm worried about w/c.

I use python to do w/c so I add it directly from the tap to the tank, and dose with dechlorinator while filling it up.

I am a new shrimp owner (red cherry shrimp) so I'm worried about the whole copper situation since I heard they are very sensitive to this, and that most tap water has a little bit of copper...

Can I continue to do straight w/c or should I do with buckets or what...

Thanks.

As far as I understand, shrimp actually use copper in their blood. As a new shrimp keeper myself I too was worried until I read that it is extremely unlikely that copper pipes would harm them unless there was serious corrosion, if water tastes metallic seems a good test. So fit for human consumption means safe for wc. I've been fine so far with mine. Ps can use an electric shower to heat water if you don't trust hot water pipes where there maybe be more corrosion.
