Hello and thanks for helping,
I have been researching and looking into amano shrimp or other basic community shrimp. My question is i have a 10 gallon with all peaceful fish: 2 small halfbeaks, 3 cories, yoyo loach, 1 African dwarf frog. anyway i think the shrimp will do fine with the fish and my tank as it is well plantged and cycled, but....will my little african dwarf frog be a problem with these guys. I dont think hes big enough to eat a shrimp but i didnt know if he would try. Any advise

ADFs can be little buggers to everything, but amano shrimp are pretty darn hardy so if he can't hurt a fish, he probably won't hurt an amano.

thank you very much k.j. i really appreciate the response. it was one of those things where i didnt think it would matter but i just had to be sure, i consider myself a responsibe fish keeper. as opposed to those who buy a tank fill it with whatever fish they see. anyway i am rambling...thanks again!!

I would say the only thing in there that wouldnt be a danger to the shrimp are the corys, I know loaches and ADF's will actively hunt them.

hmmm...dont think my 2 inch yoyo loach could possibly eat a 1 inch shrimp, and pretty sure the halfbeaks arent going to hunt anything considering they never leave the top( and they arent even an inch long)....sorry dont think my other fish will be a problem, ill let you know if i do experience any problems...thanks for your input i appreciate it. :good:

I've had my amano in my 10g for about a month now. Tankmates include 1 ADF, 3 guppies and a mystery snail.
I was a little concerned with my ADF hunting the shrimp, but there have been absolutely no problems. My ADF doesn't even seem to notice the shrimp, and they often sit on the same plant together.

I have had little yoyos harass and attack much larger fish so a shrimp wouldnt pose any problem if it wanted to eat it.As for the halfbeaks, if they spot any shrimp they will eat them. They might not leave the surface but shrimp move all over the tank.My amanos come to the surface as soon as I put flakes in.

Actually, sorry i got a bamboo shrimp, so i guess that changes a lot of stuff considering he is 2 inches long, and no the yoyo loach or anyone else for that reason do not give him any trouble. maybe i just got lucky, but every is doing fine! thanks for the input!

Just make sure he has somewhere to hide when he's moulting, yeah? :)
Plenty of caves and wood, no problem. He has turned bright red, which is a sign they have settled. All is great, thanks everyone! :good:

Drew

p.s. just realized you probably already knew that about the red thing, sorry lol.
