Hi :-(

Have been keeping an eye on my female the last few days, It's seems to me like her scales are peeling off from the bottom up. She is eating but not doing much swimming it seems like a struggle so she just rests against things on the bottom of her tank, she has got very very fat and if she doesn't lean against something ends up on her side. She looks like a bubble, she is huge. She has 1 other female in with her and she seems fine. Have been treating the tank with melafix but what could this be ?? She seems a bit more active since this, but the scale problem hasn't improved.

Worried for her, have had her a long time. What can i do to help ??

It doesn't look like dropsy, it goes out not down !

Plus would that make her scales peel off in big chunks from the bottom up?

I don't think she is going to make it,m but would like to know what it is so that i can help my other girly if she gets it too ! :-(

my balloon mollie had that sort of thing! most of her scales kept peeling off! so i bathed her in salt water and it got better but she did eventually die a few days later. im not sure if theres anything you can do really, it might be a bad internal problem shes dealing with?

:( im sorry :-( im sure she has had a good life tho!

She was a very loved little girl, But i am not signing her death just yet. How would i give her a salt bath ?

The peeling does it also look white as it sounds like columnaris, the fish is in a bad way don't be surprised if she dosn't make it.

Dont give up yet :)

Hope she gets better soon, Try looking on google and ask.com they usualy help me out in sticky cases.

You need to issolate the fish if you can and start a treatment with an anti internal bacteria med and some salt.

Unless she can live in a tuperware box i have no where for her to go :-(

She seems to be a little more active but has also taken to "standing up" as in ballancing on her tail fin with her nose up (know what i mean??)

Have been using melafix although i don't know if that is really going to do anything for her but at least it might help keep my other girl strong.

It's not white like i first thought, but still very flakey.

i'm pretty sure it's dropsy, I just lost 2 bettas from that. They were just like your describing. I can't tell you what to do, I wish someone with more knowledge would show up and tell you.
Good luck

You will need to add an anti internal bacteria med to the tank and some salt.

What is a good internal bacteria med?
I wasn't able to find any when I lost my bettas....

You could buy some antibiotic food, or maracyn 2
