Very Large Planted Tank

I am getting a new tank for my new house in the next month. I cant decide on what tank to get. Ive been looking at a tank that is 7ftlong and 2feet wide (265g) , one that is 6ft long and 3 feet wide(300g), and another that is 6 feet long and 2.5 feet wide(260g). Wide meaning from front to back, long meaning the longest dimension of the tank.

One person at the store thought a tank that is 3 feet wide (from front to back) would be tough to plant...Im not sure I agree.

What do you think are the best dimensions for a planted tank that will be about 250-300gallons?

Well if it was me I would not be looking at the size of the tank right away and is money any factor in this at all, because its a huge difference in what you would need to filter a 260g to a 300g, not to mention the rate you need flow and the method for injecting co2. Those things I would look at first, I would think the only reason it would be harder in the 3feet wide one would be the hardscape suffering and growing algae but I could be wrong on that. Best bet is to figure out all equipment and what it would best suit. so figur out the 260g then the 265g then the 300g you will see a huge difference in price I would assume.

eaither way i don't think it matters on the 300g to 260g in the deminsions basically in something that size you can put anything in it and would have plenty of room to grow

Personally if I had my time again I would replace my 6ft by 1.5ft by 2 ft with a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft. Because it would allow for alot more depth in the planted garden having more room to play with from forground to background. I also have a rock background which takes away a significant portion on that 1.5ft depth. But having said that I would have to agree with theshadowinc because ultimately it comes down to cost. And in all honesty my wife doesnt know how much my new tropical tank I am setting up is going to cost. I still dont know how to word it right yet

the choice is up to you really, it doesnt make much difference except cost of hardware & equipment!
