Hi,

I have 4 danioes ... 2 whitish yellow and 2 blue silver.

One of the white danios is very very fat. Does this mean it (cause I don't know how to tell females from males) is pregnant. It seems rather agressive or playful... or both ???? I have watched and don't think it is biting the other fish but rather chasing them .. possibly there is a reason for this ???? It even went and jumped into my little breeding net on the side of my tank. Don't know how it managed to do this but hubbie thinks it has ADD :fun:

Anyone out there know if danios get really fat before laying eggs and how I can then keep the eggs to breed them.

I do a gravel clean which would suck up any eggs about once a week or fortnight.

Thanks
Desley

I have bread leopard danios, witch is a modifacation on the zebra. The males will exibit yellowish colouring on their bottom fins and the females will get large around the girth (like you described).
After you find the male(s) with this yellow (I only had 2 so I new I had a pair), place the pair in a shallow tank if you have one. I used a round 'goldfish' bowl 1' in diameter and 1/2' deep. Place marbles on the bottom becuase the 'parents' will eat the eggs as soon as they fall.
After that, I just waited, in about 4 days they laid eggs. Not too sure about other specifics though (like temp...?)
Good luck, and be patient :D
