A couple of weeks ago, I got a shipment of fish that I had purchased off Aquabid. I won an auction for a pair, and the seller sent me 3 other fish free. I had posted pics, 1 of the free fish had severe mouth/fin rot. 1 of the fish even died the first night.

I told the seller how upset I was in receiving sick fish. I did not ask for a refund as they were free to start. The seller apologized, and said that his wife had packed, and shiped them. (Nice, blame it on the wife.) He said he was going away on bussiness, and would send a replacement order when he arrived home. That s where I left off a couple of weeks ago.

He got back on Sunday, and shipped fish out on Monday. They arrived today. I got even more today, than I did the first time. Hey, Free fish great, I don't want to seem ungreatful. But, I'm starting to think that this person should not be breeding/selling fish.

Most of the fish have kinked/curled (?) rays. Is that genetic, or is it from poor water? That wasn't the worst part. One of the fish is missing an eye. How does someone send out a fish missing an eye? Like I said, They were free. But don't think people should be warned/told what they are in for?

MOSTLY I am posting about the kinked/curled rays, I mentioned above. I can post a pic of the 1 eyed fish, but not sure anyone wants to see it.

Wow, it sounds like this person is trying to unload fish on you that:
1 ) he doesn't want to have to spend the time and money feeding
and
2 ) no one else would purposely pay money for.

Well, either way - you've got them now and I'm sure you'll take very good care of them.

As for the bent rays - that can be genetics, or from bad water quality. It could even be from them being banged around in transport.

Have you contacted this guy this time around about it?
To find out WHY he sent you fish like this??

how long did they take to get to you and did they come direct or through a shipper,.......

That's nothing to worry about if they're CT's, but it is genetic so don't breed them. I've found that when you breed crowns a lot of them get funky rays like that. You only get a small handful of perfect fish until the line is perfected. And by the time the line is perfected,it's usually time to cross in a new line.

Sounds like a certain breeder is just looking for a reason to be **** listed on the Betta Rescue site...

Not many breeders out there give out their best quality fish for free, so I don't think it's at all surprising that you got less than perfect fish. You get what you pay for, as they say. So long as the pair you paid for are good, I wouldn't complain.

Well, seeing as she/he hadn't asked for the "free" fish and they turned out to be diseased and deformed, which is going to cost money in tank space, meds, etc. I do think the complaint is legit.

The fish I paid for weren't the best either. I should have known when the PAIR were DT's. I think the seller has been breedind DT's With DT's. The fish have slight deformities, and the females lobes are not even. They were not noticeable in the auction pics. I think I'm going to let the seller hear of my dissapointment, give neutral feedback, and chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Thanks for bringing bach the tail types page.
