Tonight as I was watching my tanks, I realized that my lone baby panda cory in the 6 gallon had to be very lonely. He acted ok, but couldn't be happy. He used to have 2 buddies in with him, but they both died. I wanted to make sure he wasn't sick before moving him, so he's been by himself for a few weeks. So anyways, I cupped him and moved him over into the 10 gallon with my other 2 full grown pandas and juvie bronzes. He was so terrified, he sat right where he had fallen to (in the corner) and wouldn't move a fin. Then, the most amazing thing happened. One of the big pandas came over, sat beside him with his nose touching the baby's side. They sat like this for at least a minute, and then the big panda swam off with the new guy following him. If I didn't know any better, I could have sworn he was saying "Hey buddy, this place is pretty cool and you'll be fine if you stick with us..." The little guy hasn't left the sides of the big pandas, and is energetically checking out his new surroundings and feasting on shrimp pellets. I knew that cories liked others of their own kind, but this was just beyond me. If you ask me, fish have feelings.

That is just cool.

I agree, fish have feelings. ;)

They probably talk in languages we can't even comprehend. :fun:

Awww... That is soo sweet! I've seen a similiar reaction when a lone cory was given to me and I put him in with my little shoal. One of the current residents wandered over to him and they just sat nose to nose for a few moments before swimming off together.

I'd love to know what they say to each other. :D

That is so cute

I've seen similar things too - when adding new cories to my tank. It just makes me want to run out and get MORE

Awwwwwww!

a while ago i have alone albino, i got her three pandas to keep her company, and as soon as i released them into the tank they swam right up to her and didnt leav her for abouta week  they were 1cm, she was 6cm...they looked like little ducklings following a mother duck.

Awww! That is so sweet!

I also, had a similar experience when I introduced my baby C. leucomelas into my 29 gallon. The little baby just sat there, looking so frightened, until my adult C. leucomelas and (at the time) 2 C. lamberti's came over sat nose to nose with him for a few minutes and then off they swam in a little group.

Corys are truely the sweetest fish. And I do agree...I believe fish have feelings. I only wish I could hear what they wree saying to each other.
