Basically a "spitting" image (catch the punn)??.. of the picture below confronted me in my fishroom this afternoon...

I was cheerfully adjusting waterflows from the pumps and doing my daily "fishroom" chores, when I looked down and saw this facing me... Now I've never really been afraid of snakes, but I do hate it to be caught by surprize.... At the time I noticed him, he was already upright and ready to strike... (fortunately), I had my glasses on and he actually spat venom onto both lenses of my spectacles....

It all happened so fast, I did not have the time to fetch my camera to take a decent photo of the "blighter"... (bypassing the swearword filter with that one)... but grabbed a broom and pinned him to the ground just behind the neck.

He was put in a plastic drum with a very tight fitting lid and with my wife in the back seat of my car holding the lid down, I drove him off to distant pastures where he was released in the bush.....

The joys of staying adjacent to a game reserve!!!!

one good reason not to have laser eye surgery. :good: must have been a bit of a shock! i love snakes, but that's a bit too close for comfort.

Having been involved with the SPCA for a very long time, I was officially on call for any lots and lots of snakes "tresspassing" in private properties.... (being the "custodion" of animals.... So yea!... I've caught anything from 2m long Leguans to 4m Mambas... But being caught by surprise (as it were) is still a scary "retrospect" if I think.... just one more step forward and he would've striked......

That's scary, but at the same time, very cool.
