Hi all,
To my dismay, I noticed that my beautiful boyfin Ferdinand has velvet (at least I think that's what it is, I've never seen it before, but he has a grayish patch on his head, and what looks like gold dust on his ventral fins). I feel like a horrible fish mommy! I try to do everything right, weekly 95% WC, varied diet... *sigh*

Anyway, I want to make sure I'm treating the velvet correctly, so it will go away! Ferdie is a Betta, BTW. He lives in a 2.5 gal tank with heater (stays at about 74F). I have added 2 teaspoons of aquarium salt, and IchX (according to the instructions, it broke down to about 1/4 teaspoon for the whole tank). I know I should do a 1/3 WC before adding more meds and salt tomorrow, and I'm trying to keep the tank as dark as possible...
Am I doing this all correctly? How long should I medicate for? Thanks!

the big water changes are likely to have caused the problem in the first place . you only should change 20-25% weekly not 95%. big temp changes also cause white spot . gravel vac the grunge from the bottom then top up . just follow the directions on the bottle and it should be fine ... w spot should go away easily and quickly if it is just at the dusty stage .. :fun:
