So I've discovered my new betta has velvet! No other fish in his tank! He's rubbing not eating much and now hanging out above the outlet near the surface and keeps rubbing! What meds to use! Aquarium salt noted am hoping it won't be too late getting them Tomorrow Eve! Only chance I can get really and the nearest supplier i doubt sell copper safe! Will white spot treatment work! What's the likely Hood of survival! Here's a pic day after purchase it looks really obvious now around near his gills and belly!! White spots are light blue shiny scales perhaps from all the rubbing! Just thought it was coloration!!
Help!!

I'm not really sure what to do! I'm sorry! Hope he gets better though!

Lethargic, not eating, rubbing against decor and golden sheen on his scales!!

The three first reasons could mean a watercondition-issue as well. Did you do a waterchange recently? If not, do one now (also if you are going to use meds after all). I am not in the UK, but read great things about Paraguard for treating Ich, velvet, aso.  White spot meds will help in kost cases against Velvet cause it's a parasite with some similarity to the Ich-one. If you've any carbon in your filter : get that out before treating !

Succes, Aad

Thanks I've got it under control fingers crossed! Keeping him in darkness, raised temp added salt and meds. He's new so I'm pretty sure I bought him already with it!!.
Oh and Yea he had another water change before treatment!!
