Can anyone recommend a brand of veggie clip that is completely safe with large, strong gastropods like Turbo fluctuosa and cowries that can pry their feet into the clip? Preferably a clip that sinks nicely so I can tie some fishing line onto it and take it in/out without going tank diving?
I had a small veggie clip that I was using to target feed seaweed, but my cowrie managed to cut its foot on dang thing twice (both injuries healed some time ago and I'm no longer using that clip of course). It was one of these: http

The problem with the clips was that they were quite strong and just sharp enough on the inner edge that my cowrie managed to slide its foot in one way and not be able to pull it back out without the clip slicing into the skin. A clip that applies very weak pressure would be ideal, since then it would never dig into a snail's foot, but all clips I've seen so to date have put a bite on my finger that I know would cause injury to a snail if it managed to get into that position. Unfortunately the ones that injured my cowrie are the only type I've seen sold in my current city.
Right now I'm using the rock method to hold seaweed down, which is a safe alternative, but the tank in question runs at 72F with an ambient air temp around 60F and I'm a bit tired of having a cold, wet arm up to the shoulder twice per day. A suppose a long glove would solve the wet arm part, but I find those sorts of gloves to be a tremendous pain to get on and off and prefer to use them only when I'm going to be doing a lot of tank maintenance.
