Need some advice please.

Since fitting the Vecton V2 Steriliser I have had problems priming my filter after cleaning. I am loathe to remove the stereliser as it performs very well however today I was reduced to a demented madman attempting to get the filter running again.

The issue is that although the tap on my Aquamanta 300 head is turned off before opening the filter (indeed no water loss occurs from the pump head when reassembling), the pump very rarely restarts without a great fuss although I do ensure that the filter cannister is refilled.

So, over to you guys, I'm desperate and welcome any suggestions.

Hello,

It sounds like you are getting a small airlock in the pump when the top is replaced. The pump outlet pipe now has a slightly higher resistance to water flow (due to the increased pipe length etc.).

Try and position the Vecton higher than the filter if possible.

I've got UV on all of my tanks and after filter cleaning I often have to lie the filter horizontally on the floor for 30 seconds or so to allow the air to be expelled from the filter properly (with the pump running).
Now slowly return the filter to its upright position.. any further air pockets are then expelled.

Hope this helps.

Well thanks for your suggestion, actually my stereliser is mounted slightly higher than the filter, more by luck than judgement as I didn't give it much thought though.

Yesterday was by far the worse I have experienced and laying the filter in the horizontal position did actually get it going this time so maybe I'll just try that in future unless another suggestion comes along.

Thanks again.
