Vampire Shrimp Shedding

My Vampire Shrimp has shed in a really awkward place to reach in the tank, unlike the long-armed shrimp, he hasn't (maybe can't?) eat the skin, is it ok to leave in the tank or do I need shift everything about to get it out?

Hi again.. I see youve moved into the vampire variety ..lol
Mine had a bit of a face of last night as the smallest one shed, and the other 2 hid behind the rock face hoping I would go away and they could come out and eat him . I did toy with the idea of talking him out but decide just to watch and keep an eye on them. I was suprised to see Boris the largest rushing out at one point I was just about to whip in with my net when I realised he was after the skin!..lol He pinched it and dragged it off to nibble, giving the small shrimp time to get to the top of the rock face and find a nice crevis to settle in. I was suprised to turn the lights on just now and see Boris has just shed and the little one was at one side waiting to have a go at him..lol These shrimp are Evil.
As for Vampire shrimp. I'm asuming hes in the same tank as the Long arms If so, knowing your 3 long arms from old I would get him out of there ASAP. How big is he?
I saw mine just after they had shed and even though I knew they were soft I was astonised to see how floppy their claws were, and how weak they were. Mine just laid on the gravel with hardly any engery to move So its easy to see how they could make minced meat out of them at that stage.

No I put the vampire upstairs in the friendly tank, If I put anything else in the downstairs tank I would be put on the RSPCA's Most Wanted list.

How did it go putting a blue lobster in with those shrimp? wasn't that a plan a while ago?

No the plan was for someone to come and pick them up to put with their blue lobby
But they never turned up, so I set up a 30g for them on their own. They now live happily together with 5 rad claw crab and one king crab. So it looks like i'm stuck with them

Ah well, you would have missed them really. They are probably like cats anyway. You would come back to the tank a few days later and find that they had cross countried it back and were just really angry with you.

ROFL Probably knowing my luck, and they would have brought a few friends with them to stay, or snack on when they felt peckish

Funny you should mention the fighting bit.. I went back to to the tank after writing that last bit and found Boris in bits Its the first time any of the shrimps have shed since I added the larger king crab, (hes about 6cm ) Boris had clearly got way too cozy with the idea he was top of the food chain and settled down on the gravel next to the King crabs cave, he must have nodded or something as he woke to the this mini 6cm crab grabing one of his claws and proceeding to chop off most of his antenna Boris must of paniced as he ejected his nice new shiny claw and ran off to the other side of the tank So this little 6cm crab is sat there with this huge claw in his claw and nibbling away, while Boris is so terrified he sat half way up the rock face shacking for the next few hours. I think he and the others have learnt a valueble lesson. Dont be fooled by size!!
Its the first time I have seen any problem between the Prawns (is actually what they are not shrimp) and the crabs. The crabs, being crabs do tend to bicker between themselves over who gets the best home/food etc and often lob bits off each other.

I've got to get me some crabs or shrimp/prawns. Maybe a crayfish . I'm dreaming, theres no way my mums going to agree to me having a third tank, its taken over a year to convince her to let me have the small second one .

Jesus! So the real question is... Did you manage to muster up the emotions to feel sorry for Boris or was there a hint of 'Eye for an eye, claw for the 60 quids worth of fish you have decadantly chomped on over the last 6 months' feel to the occasion?

Do you know how rude mine have become now?!?!? They won't take Tesco Value Shrimp anymore!! But they will take the £4.99 a bag ones!!!!!! This week I actually had to have the blue and white strippys and they had the posh ones!

Well I guess the Poo has hit the fan in my tank, so to speak Turned out it wasn't Boris who got mangled, it was Zippy his less evil sidekick . I hadnt realised as Boris has hidden constantly since I put him in the tank, that Zippy is now slightly bigger than Boris Which seems to have triggered an aggression problem with Boris. Turns out Boris is fine and well with his full complimant of claws an antenna. Where as Zippy only has one claw, his nose end bitten off and stumps for his antenna, all 6 or 8 of them..lol (sorry aint counted) While poor min george has also been attacked! he also has only 1 claw and nibbled antenna Both also have huge claw marks down their backs Im thinking that I just walked in as the crab picked up the stray arms..lol and infact Boris had rushed out and attacked both of them. Ive sat and watched them for the past few days and indeed, when he thinks no one is around he comes out and beats them both up So I'm thinking of buying a bigger tank..lol 4' x 2 x 2. I guess I'll just have to let them eat each other until only one is left. Both the big males now have lovely colouring, dark blue arms and multi coloured bodies, very attractive. Shame they are such demons..lol

Your shrimp looked identical to mine in a photo on the previous thread but in the video he looks different?! I wanted to see if they are at different stages of maturity or different types.

Mine seem to change colour with mood ..lol Boris has more blue on him than the others.
Mini Update..
Boris shed yesterday, I just walked intto the diningroom intime to see him jump out of skin and lie on the floor like a bit of wet lettuce..lol and guess what happened next...PMSL.. within about 30 seconds of this george (mini) ran out from his rock hole and started beating the *hi* out of him..lol I mean really hes only half the size of Boris and only has one claw!! I gave goeorge a poke and sent him back to his lair and encourage Boris to go sit in his Large flower pot. I then civered the fron with bit of Bogwood and left him to settle for a few hours. Usually after a few hours they are rigid enough and have enough strength to fight back and move away so I let him out, and withing seconds George was out again climbed on his back and got him in a half nelson..PMSL.. It was so funny to watch I had to take a quick vid...lol Zippy clearly thought it was a good chance to get his own back, but hes a bit of a yellow belly when it comes to violence, he had the odd nip, but in general seemed way too scared to get involed. So the size balance is now restored Boris is again top prawn!

I'll try and get some good shots of Boris, but to be honest he hardly ever comes out now, so its not easy catching him.
