I have been thinking about getting a Vampire crab for a while and of course, have no room for another tank. So, one option I am considering is to turn my 12.7 gal. into a pseudo paludarium. Tank dimensions are 23.6 x 8 x 15.75 inches and it is home to 3 albino corydoras, one sparkling gourami, 3 amano shrimp and a variable amount of bladder and ramshorn snails. It is planted and would be even more once I decide if this is a feasible path.

The current plant entails lowering the water level by about six inches, thus reducing the volume to about 8 gals. and making more above the water surface for the crab without compromising the water volume below.

Currently I have a 20 gal. capacity canister filter with a spray bar and a 5 gal. sponge filter. About 1" sand substrate and plants, mostly epiphytes. Parameters are as follows:
pH: 7
Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate: 0
GH: 100 ppm
KH: 80 ppm
Temp: 76°F

Light: Fluval Aquasky 2.0 on for 8 hours a day. Heater: Archaea 50W
