Valve Broken On Co2 Kit?

I bought a ProFlora m500 C02 canister kit last week. It's great - much simpler to set up and use than I was afraid it would be. However, a couple of times the water level in the bubble counter has mysteriously risen from about halfway up to almost the top. Does this mean there's something wrong with the one-way valve?

Is the one-way valve under water?. Also, are you sure the diffuser is completely water-tight?

The one-way valve is outside the tank, between the diffuser and the bubble counter. Pretty sure the diffuser is air-tight, but would that matter is the valve was working?

Your right, it wouldn't matter, im being stupid. The only thing i can think of is have you put the one way valve the right way? you can test by blowing into it
