My loving hubby went to the LFS to get some pet food and bought me home 2 shrimps....got no idea what type invoice just says "shrimp" very thoughtful of him but are they going to be suitable if my tank has not yet cycled almost there I think.

And do I need to feed them anything special, I am currently feeding my fish flaked food !

Incase you can identify them they are transparent and have thin black lines going down their back, will try and post a photo later when i have more time.

Not ideal - shrimp are very sensitive to bad water conditions - the water quality has to be spot on and you say your tank is not fully cycled - They are especially sensitive to ammonia spikes that occur in a non-cycled tank. :/ You will need to do frequent water changes to keep them alive, or take them back to the shop.

From the descriptons they sound like they may be ammano shrimp. They need plenty of cover and plants as they are shy and with only 2 will not feel very secure. They will eat anything as they are scavengers They will eat flake but they will also need frozen live foods & algae wafers.

If you do keep them and they survive be aware that a lot of effective fish medicines contain copper so should never be used in a tank with shrimp.

i've never fed my shrimp lol i never see them to feed them their always under my darn bogwood! :p
im sure they get a taste for pellets tho and other spare flake debris which settles on the bottom

WOW! two shrimp for valentines. Lucky you, i got a bag of black gravel and a plastic plant arrangement  Who says romance is dead??!! :hyper:
