I got back from our 10 day trip to the big city laden with fresh plants in bags, new gravel, lots of ideas....and while cleaning out the 25 gallon tried to move what I thought was a long rock...and it swam away! I was like "what the bleep?!?" It swam like a shark and looked like a pleco mini! I was like "no way that friggin lfs guy accidentally dropped a pleco fry in with my plants!" I was like hyper ventilating for a second there.

However I managed to find the extremely well camouflaged little guy again and criminintly it's a baby corey! :hyper: I have a large stash of river rocks in the corner and lots of hidey holes, plus a large clump of java moss there so SOMEHOW one of their eggs clearly didn't get eaten and fell in there, hatched and he's been hiding under the java and among the rocks ever since. My daughter was all like "net him out of there, net him out of there before he gets eaten!" but he's too big to be eaten. Honestly.

Anyways what a shock...a nice one though. Now that I've added sand and alot of brown coloured stones to that aquarium I will NEVER find him, it was hard enough against blue and black gravel! (yeah the blue and black just HAD to go)

So that's a shock and my daughter is jealous like heck. I'm trying to take all the credit OF COURSE but as she says, I had zip to do with it. :D

So yaaay, I'm a corey mommy!

do you have any pics??

I knew fish keeping would cost me, but now I've got to get a digital camera! :D
Right now I don't have any pics. :( I wish.

But he's so mottled, unlike his parents who have a bright green sheen on them, that he blends in so well I can't find him most of the time anyways. He's hiding out with the guppy fry among the rocks and moss, but no way he's in danger of being eaten, he's about an inch long...no....longer. maybe 1 1/4? Sure shocked me. He's like a mini male, all spotted....it was his whiskers that told me he was a corey...before that I was flipping out it was a baby pleco! silly me!

hehehe, I know the feeling, my camera broke and I can't afford one right now either.

mottled...possibly a peppered cory? Are you sure it didnt come in with something else? surprising that you havent seen it when its already easily an inch long!

Ben
