I got back from our 10 day trip to the big city laden with fresh plants in bags, new gravel, lots of ideas....and while cleaning out the 25 gallon tried to move what I thought was a long rock...and it swam away! I was like "what the bleep?!?" It swam like a shark and looked like a pleco mini! I was like "no way that friggin lfs guy accidentally dropped a pleco fry in with my plants!" I was like hyper ventilating for a second there.
However I managed to find the extremely well camouflaged little guy again and criminintly it's a baby corey! I have a large stash of river rocks in the corner and lots of hidey holes, plus a large clump of java moss there so SOMEHOW one of their eggs clearly didn't get eaten and fell in there, hatched and he's been hiding under the java and among the rocks ever since. My daughter was all like "net him out of there, net him out of there before he gets eaten!" but he's too big to be eaten. Honestly.
Anyways what a shock...a nice one though. Now that I've added sand and alot of brown coloured stones to that aquarium I will NEVER find him, it was hard enough against blue and black gravel! (yeah the blue and black just HAD to go)
So that's a shock and my daughter is jealous like heck. I'm trying to take all the credit OF COURSE but as she says, I had zip to do with it.
So yaaay, I'm a corey mommy!
