hey i have got a algae problam in my tank and i wanted to kill it off so i am thinking about useing this a UV pump witch kills off all algae also it says it kills bacteria to  but don't i need the bacteria in my filter to keep my ammonia and nitrites at 0 ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1850L-H-Powerhead-5W-UV-Steriliser-Aquarium-Water-Pump-Fish-Tank-Boyu-SP-103UB-/180751981377?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item2a15a85b41

Home aquaria does not really require UV. If you have algae issues then you need to find the cause of it. Unstable water conditions and too much light are the usual causes of it.

How long are your lights on for each day?

Its because I mixed someone else algae and water at first when I was seting up my tank silly silly silly thing to do I know :( now I want to get rid off it all because it spreading but my pleco keeps most of it down but you can still see it in the water floating around :( and I keep my lights on 6 an a half hours a day but I have cut the light time down to around 4 hours a day I just really want to get this sorted soon because I plan on getting some discus

Remove it by water changes. I doubt it will be algae. Try doing 25% water changes each day until its gone. Filter floss in your filter will also help.
