Usning Sand?

Hi,

I am just about to purchase a new tank at the weekend and like the idea of using sand instead of gravel.

Are there any problems with using sand? Is it harder to clean? Will all the poo show?

Any advice on using sand would be great.

I have 2 tanks, 1 with gravel, and 1 with sand.... They are both as easy to clean as eachother, some fish prefer sand, so really it depends on the fish you are putting in there, and it looks nice of course.... Good Luck

I would recommend sand. Its easier to maintain since the poo does not get a chance to burrow into the sand. Looks more natural as well and plants love it

i have sand in my tank & the mistake i made was puttin to much sand in the tank. have managed with water changes to get the levels down now & it seems fine. i changed from gravel to sand & at first wish i hadn't but now its ok the sand also looks nicer imho
