Hi All

I have just used some 'tar and glue remover' to remove some glue residue left by a stick on digital thermometer on the outside of the tank.

As I was applying it, it suddenly occurred to me that it is probably not good for silicon. I only used a tiny amount and washed it straight off. I have cleaned the affected area several times with soapy water.

The stuff is a solvent based liquid that evaporates very quickly.

Its a Juwel Rio 125 with the black sealent, it doesnt seem to have changed at all?

Do you think this is likely to cause me any issues? Its got me mega worried

Thanks
Aaron

Im sure you are fine, if you had got it onto the seal, as its solvant based - as soon as the solvent has evaporated then its harmfull effects are over.
I use wet wipes to remove sticky stuff frm lables... gawd knows whats in them :shout:

Cool thanks for the reassurance.

I used to fit vinyl lettering etc to cars, and we used it to remove the glue that vinyl left behind. It cut through the strubborn glue in seconds.
