Using Sand Instead Of Gravel?

My main concern is that when I had white gravel, it got FILTHY, FAst! I love how sand looks and I really wanna try using it instead of gravel, but how hard is it to keep it looking good!?

Its not hard at all if you maintain good maintenance (gravel vacuum just above the sand not on the sand to pick up all waste if you chose a dark coloured gravel it will look good to
