Using Salt With Cold Water

I was in a pet shop yesterday getting some food (for the fish) may I add, Im not that hungry when the sales assistant got chatting, they had an offer on aquarium salt and was trying to get me to buy some.

He said I should definately be using it in my coldwater tank.

Is this true. I have a moor, an oranda, telescope, pleco and weather loach in my tank. Would they benefity from a taste of salt??

This is down to personal choice as some would salt to 1 level teaspoon a gallon to act as a tonic for them but certainly no more than that.
Though plecs and loaches dont like salt I dont think they would mind that concentration but not over a long period of time.

Why use salt? There's no need to unless you are wanting to use it for some kind of treatment and your plec and loach won't appreciate it.
