I have a question,

I have a drainage stream (quiet long) that is nearby my house, I was wondering if I could take a nice flat rock for my tank. My question is how would I go about sterlizing it, because they LFS doesnt sell any good rocks like this. My only though would be to boil it in hot water, anything esle? :dunno:

Boiling, scrubbing. Make sure there's no air pockets in the rocks you're using. There's a pinned topic in tropical chit chat I'm pretty sure about which rocks to use. Before you boil it, pour a bit of vinegar on it. If it bubbles, don't use it, it will raise the ph. If it's fine, then go ahead, and get boiling.

Good luck

Yea that is a good question because although there are some good rocks at our LFS they are not cheap and being broke college kids it is hard to throw down like 30 dollars or whatever on just rocks when they are in my backyard. Well good topic thx

Buy a potato scruber and scrub and soak the rock as long as possible then, then boil it or bleach it(if bleach rinse well and allow to dry completely)
