Use Clean Beach Sand

It COULD. But....

Why would you collect it, wash away good bacteria and other life forms, and then dry it to make sure there is none left? LOL. Your basically starting with clean sand.

Id buy better quality stuff from your LFS or a local quarry (probably not where you live perhaps). These substrates help buffer your water, and help your water params hold stability.

IMO, leave beach sand at the beach.

agreed with the above. only thing to add is that there are oils and alsorts of nasty chemicals on beach sand. best leave it alone m8.
