My invert guy rang me today and said he can get me sulawesi harlequins and cardinals but they will be £6 each or 4 for £20 is that a good price for them , i cant find any for sale anywhere to see what a good price would be

Thanks Sarah x

also need a good link for caring for these before i get him to go ahead and order them

He needs to order them by 2PM hence the urgent

Seems very good to me, that's only based on German web prices though, when you take into account shipping from Germany those are very good prices.

I've seen them at ~£10 each + £25 shipping.

Liam says he got them for £7.50 each, he has some excellent photos of his here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=247383&hl=.

You really are getting some fantastic inverts!

going to order them ;) but not telling hubby lol
he's going to aim for getting both but he said he might be able to get white tops - not a clue what these look like but i said to him try what he can and i'll have 4 of each and see how i go lol

I would just get cardinals as the harlequins seem very difficult if not impossible to keep, there are no credible records of the Harlequins breeding in capitivity, a few people had babies from harlequins that had eggs when they got them. The cardinals should be okay though. A temp of 27C-29C a ph of 8.2 Kh of 4 the water needs to be fairly soft with high ph. They are not easy to keep and breed like other freshwater shrimp but if conditions are good they should breed.

Edit just to say the price is very good.

my ph is 7 and my water is very soft in devon - not got an actual reading but will get one ,
do you know anything about the white back ones?

Hi Sarah, from what I know they are pretty particular about the hardness and pH. Many people use coral sand to bring the ph up it seems to work well. I think 7 pH is too low for them. I don't know about the white backed ones. One with the common name Orchid shrimp people have had sucess with also.
Cheers
