Hi

Just come back from a two week holiday, and my pregnant Mollie fish who i thought would have had her babies by now is struggling to swim. she keeps going vertical in the tank (head at top)and is struggling to get back to horizontal. This is really distressing to see. Don't think she's had babies before.

Does any one know what is wrong with her, or what I can do for her? Also she appears to have small black specks on her (she is a white fish) and the base of her tail has gone a light brown colour. I have another female fish in the tank who is obviously not right either, she is hiding under things not wanting to move and will have had babies while we were away (we've found one still alive!)

Our male fish seems fine.

I have done a 50% water change as they were left for two weeks, being fed by a neighbour.
Please respond asap it's really upsetting.
thanks!

i have a female silver molly doing the same thing. Has me absolutly stuffed as to whats wrong with her. Just waiting for my Lyretail to finish giving birth in my fry tank and i might move her over there with the fry

Sorry that I can't help you with your problem. It does not sound like a livebearer problem as such but a disease problem. I would not put a sick fish into a fry tank, that is a way to lose all of your fry.
