My parakeet kiki, was behaving oddly. We checked her and she seems to have a red bum, and it's sort of continuing up her stomach. It's covered in poo but it's bright red. She's all puffed up and she keeps trying to pluck at it but she plucks at her back instead. She is about 4 years old. She is alone in her cage. Please help!

Please somebody help!
It's gotten much worse overnight!
It looks like she has a big red bubble coming out of her butt. It's red and she's scratching at it with her beak. My mom is going t bring her to the vet, maybe it'll help.

Appearantley it's an egg. It's white, oval, and covered in blood. But it just might be stuck. She has a bare-bottom cage (i know, I know...) and she looked like she was trying to make a nest. \.

I would get her to a vets as it sounds like she could be egg bound. If this is the case she could die if she doesnt get help. Please keep us informed and good luck

Yeah i definately agree, you seriously need to take her to a vet ASAP!
The plucking of the feathers thing can be down to all sorts of factors, like boredom, lonelyness, stress etc, so you need to seek a vet who knows their buisness about birds as soon as posible.

I will tell my mom that, but she thinks it'll be all right. The egg is halfway out. There's a lot of blood though. I think that's probably a bad thing. Her feet are covered in it and it's on her perch, a little bit in her food, on the floor of the cage, and a towel we layed out for her. It also seems to be dripping from the egg  I will convince my mom to take her to the vet.

If you can't convince your mum to take her to the vet, you should try yourself as it sounds very serious. If she's bleeding internally she could bleed to death or die of secondary infections and things etc, so its vital to get her to a vet ASAP.

I did have to miss school but we got her to the vet. She said she lost a lot of blood for such a small bird. She also said that the egg was stuck and she would have to lubricate it and try to get it out. Then she said that it would probably kill her since she was very weak from all the blood loss. She took her to another room and half an hour later the nurse came in. She said they got the egg out and that she surprisingly lived. Then she told us she was EXTREMELY weak, so we had to carry her slowly and now she is in a nice warm room, wih no noise. I hope she makes it through this.

She is dying as we speak. We put her in a wool hat because she was dying and we wanted her to be warm and comfortable. :rip: :byebye: :shout:  :X  :( :-( I hope she feels better up there, with her old lil buddy Adorable. We all loved her so much. She was the best bird ever.

Sounded like septicemia to me.
Sorry bless her.
R.I.P.

She is still hanging on, she was always a fighter :-( We put her the a wool hat and on a hot water bottle.

EDIT_ she is a little bit better- opening her eyes a bit more and moving her little neck. God bless her, maybe she still has a very slight chance.

Sorry thought she passed on.
Good luck bless her.
