Fish Fanatic
My Guppies were finally diagnosed with Saddleback Columnaris and have undergone two weeks of treatment with Melafix & Pimafix combined. This treatment cleared up all fungas and breakouts in guppies apart from the odd couple that were too far gone & died. During the two week treatment I noticed my gups were still scratching themselves on plants etc... MLFS advised to treat for ich and gave me two tablets to crush and put into tank, of course after a water change and 48 hours after melafix and pimafix was last added. So tomorrow I plan to treat with tabs. To be honest Im a little nervous as we've lost so many fish in the past month, before treatment of mela and pima,.
I have set up a fry tank nearly two weeks ago and fry are ready to be placed into their new home. My fry that are in net seem to be displaying no scratching at all so I'm not sure i need to treat them. Not only that I don't want the tabs to kill them. They are nearly 3 weeks old. I also have fry that are 3 months old...& two of the male teenage fry are developing awesome colours...Its exciting. Although 1 male teenage guppy has an orange spot on one side of tail.. I'm not sure if this is colour developing or signs of parasite. None of my fish have any form of white spots, fungas etc. But still scratch. Im not really sure if its ich or gill flukes, as when I was watching one of the gups scratch he was trying to scratch around his gill area. Like flick the side of his head on the edge of a leaf.
I have sterazin here if I do need to treat for Gill Flukes, But want to make sure I treat with correct meds for correct disease. So really need help to diagnose this problem quick.
Also if it is ich and I have to use tablets has anyone used this form of treatment for ich & if so...is this safe for Corries & Chineese algee eaters. Mlfs said they will be fine and should be treated also incase they are the carriers. Just one last thing...should I run the gravel filter low again so to keep treatment in tank longer...or is it better to speed it up being tablet form
Cheers all.. I appreciate any knoweledge anyone may have.... Thx all for your time.
