Hi all, this is an URGENT REPLY NEEDED kinda Q.

i have had a sick female, in a breeding net, treated her now 4 7 days with melafix, but abt 2 change medicine to aquarium Treatment number 9, anti internal bacteria. but i am in URGENT need of help 4 the male! i have posted a few posts on this, and not had much of a reply, but she basically has a red spot on each side of her body, which im not sure if its tb, or an ulcer/boil. the male however doesnt have this.

i thought he was sulking next to her breeding net, which was close 2 the glass. i moved it to see y he was still sulking, only 2 find that he fell str8 2 the bottom, and then started doing backflips and summersalts.

As far as i no this is a sign of swambladder, but i think this is far more serious than just that. as he is also showing a very abnormal breathing pattern, and appears like he cnt breathe, as he is a dwarf gourami, he is not gettin enough air, as he cant get to the surface at all really, but is showing signs of trying to get there. im not sure, but looks like he is showing signs of fish tb.

I have tested my Nitrite, and ph, and they are both fine. but my nitrate is off the scale! with a bright red outcome this i believe is potentially harmful to the fish. i am planning on doing a 50% water change 1st thing in the morning, to try and neutralise the nitrate, and get it closer to normal levels which are save for my fish.

ive had him since i started adding fish to my tank, so he is 1 of my favs, i will do NETHING to help him survive!

PS i have also posted this in the gourami/betta area.

If he's having trouble getting to the surface to breathe, you could lower the water level so he has a shorter distance to travel for air.. I think a water change is definitely in order ASAP. I'm not sure what kind of treatment to give him, but I'm sure someone else will come along here shortly to extrapolate on that.
