Its almost level, and the spirit level shows it as being level

but im in the process of filling up (about 1/4 so far) my new Juwel Rio 180, and ive had to stop

Ive put some small pieces of carpet under the feet to level it better than what it appeared to be, and the spirit level showed it as being right before I put the tank on the stand

Whats the best thing to use to level it before i fill it any further

Thanks

Steve

some people put a piece of foam betweent he stand and the tank to level it when it is lsightly off

how bad is it?

If it is a stand with small feet on carpeting, and especially if the carpet has padding under it, it may take a few tries of fill, empty, relevel & refill. As weight increases with filling the tank, the legs sink further, and sometimes unevenly, into the padding.

You probably need something solid and flat under the legs to spread the weight. The only tank I have on carpeting is a 65 in the living room. I bought one of those large plastic mats that go under an office desk. It spreads the weight from the feet a little more, looks decent for a tank in the living room, and protects the carpet from any spills or splashes.

You could try some pieces of plywood or board, 1 under each foot to spread the weight. 4"x4" would probably work.

Make sure the stand is far enough away from the wall so that the back legs aren't sitting on the tack strip that holds the carpeting in place around the perimeter.

Thanks for the advice

I managed to sort it out in the end, it was annoying me cos I made sure it was level before and after putting the tank on the stand, and on each bucket of water

It wasnt that bad, but enough to be noticeable

just one of the feet needed slightly raising, as it seemed to be sinking into the carpet more than on the otherside

Cheers

Steve

glad yto hear you managed to set it up starught!

nothing worse than an out of level tank to start up a tank IMO

:) hi, glad you got it level now. I had the same problem today with my new tank (Juwel 180 Vision). My husband suggested putting coins( I used 2ps stuck together) underneath the feet as it wasn't a great deal out of level. It worked a treat and the good thing is you can't see them, unlike the board I was going to use!lol
