Are they predatory? Just added some small white cloud mountain minnows to the tank within the last week and one has disappeared while one of the platties looks like it has been shredded by something.

Had the Cat for a while but didn't suspect it to be aggressive.

I used to keep them some time ago and never had any issues with them bothering any other fish. For the most part they just skimmed around the top of the tank and ate any food that was up there, mostly flake.

How sure are you of its identification? Synodontis nigriventris and sometimes mislabelled Synodontis contracta are both good community fish, which are known to have the odd rogue one that may nip a little, but certainly not kill anything above mouth size outright. These are both very social Synodontis like corydoras, I have nine.

On the other hand, if this catfish is a young Synodontis nigrita or euptera, then I would be less less surprised to hear of it killing a WCMM.

Like most fish, these African catfish would happily eat a dead tankmate.
