ok, I recently seen this wierd fish which brownish in colour, it sits on the surface but looks upside down even tho its not, what is it? and can you keep them with a betta? i like them!

These definately sound like african butterflies, and I wouldn't recommend keeping them with bettas, because they can show some aggression to other surface dwellers, which could mean a one eyed betta ;)

sounds like an upsidedown catfish Synodontis nigriventris to me.
if it is they grow to 9.6 cm but they are very social and make an interesting addition to a community tank, best results are acheived by keeping in gropus of 3 or more.

i would have to disagree with you and go with the african butterfly fish....the original poster said that it looks like it is upside down, but it is not...
