I have two pair and i think theyre lovely, at the moment they are in two of my communal tanks and haven't bred ( I've only had them for three months and have read they may be seasonal spawners)

I'm thinking of moving them into a 3' tank thats empty at the mo to see if i can breed, anyone got any hints or tips

should i just try with one pair or could i put both pairs in together. another option would be to partition the tank off and have one pair in each end, what dya think?

thanks

Spawning Synodontis nigriventris is not a easy task and captive spawnings are usually more accidental than planned. Set the tank up so the entire bottom is made up of rocks and wood to form many caves and plant with broad leaved aquatic plants that dont mind dull lighting such as Anubias species. Condition the fish with 3 times daily feeds of bloodworm and black mosquito larvae, prefferably live but frozen will do if it has to. I would recomend keeping a group of 8 fish made of 4 pairs in a 3 foot tank for the breeding project. Spawning should be triggered by lowering the temperature and frequent daily or twice daily water changes using a watering can fitted with a rose to simulate rainfall.
