Hey, i went to my LFS yesturday and they had a tank of upside down catfish each about an inch long. I really like the look of them and hoping to introduce one into one of my 50's. Just need to know, are they agressive? do well in a community? better in groups or own? adult size?

thanks everyone,

make sure it is a synodontis nigroventis. there are some USD's that can get to 12" and kill off yur whole tank

lol thanks, i really dont want that to happen! i think il get 3 then hopefully next time im there.

thanks everyone,

USDs are shy and do better in groups, the largert the group the moe active they become. They are non aggressive preferring flight rather than fight. Yes they do do well in a community with other fish provided those fish arent aggressive towards them. Adults are typically about 3 or 4 inch in length (excluding caudal fins) and are still as shy as tiddlers!
Also tend towards being nocturnal in nature

You need at least 6 for them to be fully active.

But you couldnt get 6 in a 50G unless it is very empty already.
