My girlfriend and I already want to upgrade our saltwater tank after only having one for about 1 and a half months. We really did not spend too much to upgrade only the LR, sand, and lights. We received a free blower and we already had the tank, stand, filter, etc. We live with my parents so we still kind of go by their rules. My parents said if I shut down the 10 gallon tank that I can get another 20 gallon tank. I already have a 20 gallon high Freshwater tank going that I am very happy with so I will not tear down that tank. My girlfriend and I are thinking about upgrading to a 20 gallon long. Her cousin has one and they may trade us for our 10 + stand, or we may flat out buy it from them. What I have:
-Blower (I don't know the brand or size, I have it on the lowest setting currently and it moves the water a lot)
-HOBF rated for up to 20 gallon tanks
-2 50/50 CFL/Actinic @ 10 watts each
-11.4 pounds of LR (I assume I need 8.6 more pounds)
-12-ish pounds of sand (regular and aragonite mixed)

What else do I need?

So 8.6lbs of LR and another blower, I assume if I crank the current blower to full speed it will complement the new blower. If that is everything I am beyond pumped if only her cousin would get back to us!

What are some websites that auction aquarium goods other than ebay? I am growing a little impatient with my gf's cousin and would like to find a 20 gallon long with or without stand elsewhere.

thats good news
I did the same within a month and a 20gallon will offer you so much more opportunity for stocking

I hope so all I have is a clown and a snail. Just found the emerald crab dead.....I don't what happened to him. Does anyone know of any good websites to buy aquarium equipment? Her cousin still hasn't gotten back to us. I found aquabid but it didn't have any 20 longs.

if in uk go on aqaurist classified

I'm over in the States so that does not help but thank you! I even resorted to looking at craig's list but I guess I will further support my LFS by getting the stand and tank setup there.

Well it appears that my girlfriend's cousin isn't going to get back to us so I went to Beyond The Reef today to pick a clown since they comped me for a sick one which they healed and sold before I could get there today! The owner gave me a 20 gallon long pre-drilled for a sump! He filled me in on what I needed and how to do it! I am so excited, I will be returning to the store on Sunday to purchase everything I need! I will likely be doing a journal on my this tank! I would have purchased the equipment today but I don't get paid until tomorrow! I just need to figure out what to do about creating a stand!

Congrats! Figured I ought to reply to your post seeing how most on this website seem to ignore our post unless we post a #41#### picture. Need to find a better forum I guess.

Sounds really exciting - what will your plans be?

oh pitty abut your cousin but hey sound like your getting on just as fast anyway sounds good and will watch this space :good:

I will be starting a journal this weekend. So far I have the tank, new sand, and some of the hardware for the stand. My dad and I will be building a 30"H x 32"L x 15"D stand with 3/4" plywood, 1/2" plywood, and 2x4's. Through my LFS I have ordered the bulkhead, tubing, powerhead(pump), and glass canopy for this Friday. The lighting system (http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/248262/product.web) and LR will be be the second wave as that is over 200 USD alone which will be in about 2 weeks.

Rayne - sorry that you don't enjoy this forum. I still find it to be very helpful and friendly.
