hi im upgrading my tank in the next few weeks from my 117 lt tank to a 240 lt tank.
i have a few quesutions.
can i use the water from my existing tank to setup the new one? bit at a time?
as all good bacteria is obviousely in this and the external filter.

also i want to have lots of live rock in there, how much would i need for this size tank?
and can this be done in stages also?

thank you

You would need about 24kg of LR.
There is no bacteria stored in water, its all in the external filter, although you shouldnt need to use one.
As the Live rock acts as a filter.

you can still transfer the old water as you will save money on salt water

Great advice lads :good:

There is a calculator at the top of the page - just put in your tank details and woo hoo.......

Yep as YF says, there is no bacteria (or little) in the water, it is in the sand and the live rock. But to save money you can use the old water in your tank as Truck says
